Guitar Prelude #1 (Between earth and air) was commissioned for the 1992 Australian Guitar Competition. The work belongs to a set of three preludes exploring various rhythmic techniques such as polyrhythms, additive and subtractive rhythms and modal harmonies. The work consists of 8 sections some of which can be played separately. The work has been recorded by many guitarists. The work was published by Currency Press (Sydney). An orchestration of Prelude #1 for 8 cellos is also available.

Prelude # 3 (Mirrors of Fire) was commissioned by Tim Kain and recorded on his album of the same name for Tall Poppies (TP169). The work focuses on left hand polyrhythmic technique combined with asymmetrical bar organisation. Harmonically the work is based on the octatonic scale. It has also been rearranged for piano (See Mise-en-Scène #5, Book 1). Prelude #3 (Mirrors of Fire) work was published by Currency Press (Sydney).
